Benita’s Retreat Leadership Style

The foundation of Benita A. Esposito’s work

I coach high-achieving individuals to recognize and express their unique gifts so they can experience true abundance in relationship with God, family, co-workers and friends, and make the world a better place.

Benita’s Leadership Style

One-to-one coaching with application to all participants in a group is my greatest contribution. The needs arise organically from the group in each moment. While there is an overall focus on a particular topic, the process of learning is fluid. It is impossible to set a schedule and honor the flow of what is needed in the moment. However, I do like to set a start and end time, and we take a 2-hour mid-day break. Short lectures and experiential activities ensure integrated learning.

My retreat leadership style works best with people who like to go with the flow. Participants who are most pleased with my retreats are willing to take personal responsibility for expressing their desires while staying focused on the overall agenda. In contrast, other people want more structure from me. They want me to make decisions for the group so they do not have to participate in possible conflicts that would arise from the group decision-making process. They see that kind of decision-making as wasting time. I disagree. I am not there just to teach them a topic, although I do that. I want them to learn personal responsibility and how to manage themselves in a healthy manner in a group. This is a necessary skill set to live in and lead healthy families, workplaces and communities.  Especially when a group meets together over time, judgments and conflicts arise. There is maximum opportunity for individual and team growth.

What makes Benita’s leadership style unique?

I promote the experience of healthy emotional and spiritual intimacy (not to be mistaken for sexual intimacy) while respecting appropriate boundaries. I use my logic and intuition to understand people at depth. This is "Ph.D." level work for people who really want to get to the heart of the matter (not just the head) with God, within themselves, in relationships and in business.

A minimum of 6 people are required for a weekend retreat. The maximum is usually 12, although exceptions are made for some business groups.
