What Makes Benita’s Retreats so Effective?

Q: What Makes Benita A. Esposito’s Transformational Retreats So Effective?

A: Retreats are about deep dive holistic experiential processing, not sitting around talking from a superficial level.

We address the following topics in all my retreats. Different aspects get emphasis as dictated by participants’ request.

1.    Self-awareness: how to identify thoughts, beliefs, interpretations (our stories) and how that generates emotional reactions and physical responses.

2.    Body-mind healing: healing wounds from the past that affect us in the present; family of origin issues and adult experiences

3.    Relationships: communication and conflict management

4.    Spirituality: the root of all enduring happiness

When I lead retreats, I tailor the activities to the people who attend. I ask each person to designate their specific goals for the retreat 2-4 weeks before it starts. Then during the retreat, each person comes forward in their desired time, and says, "I want to work on X." Then we co-create processes that will best accelerate their learning and growth.  The agenda is not set in advance, but rather it is fluid to meet the needs in the moment. This is very similar to how I facilitate individual/couples sessions. We set the agenda at the beginning of the session and spontaneously address your needs so you get the greatest results.

The benefit of a retreat is that we get to have 2.25 days to dive deep and enjoy intensified transformation. I love the deep work. You should see people glow at the end! Also, people get to learn vicariously as others are coached, and that is very beneficial because you learn things you didn’t even know you needed to learn. There’s wonderful bonding in the group and people feel safe to open and explore their areas of self-judgment and heal.  We can do a lot of inner healing with private sessions, but healing occurs best in the context of relationships where people feel loved. That’s what we do in retreats. We’ll also do a breathwork session as a group. That is a powerful modality for deep healing and bonding. Retreats are giant leaps forward in a person’s development.
